Fabrice Millischer

Biography

Fabrice Millischer stood out as one of the most complete and most talented trombonists of the young generation by gaining the First prize of the prestigious International Competition of ARD Munich, distinction awarded for the first time since his creation in this discipline.

Born in 1985 in a family of musicians, he started his musical education at the C.N.R in Toulouse. As a very young boy, he began with piano lessons, then the cello and the trombone. He distinguished himself by successively getting two awards, one for each instrument. Having worked with Daniel Lassalle (a member of the baroque ensemble "Les Sacqueboutiers"), he very soon discovered the sacqueboute which he became fond of.

On June 2003, as a successful candidate at the C.N.S.M.D of Lyon, he was also accepted onto Michel Becquet’s trombone courses. Four years later, he brillantly passed his diplomas for both instruments. In the meantime, starting in 2004, he studied cello at the C.N.S.M.D in Paris with Roland Pidoux and Xavier Philips as his teachers.
In 2006, together with Aurélien Honoré, Jean-Philippe Navrez and Fabien Dornic, he created the quatuor of trombones “Quartbone”with whom he gave performances and the group perfected itself in Cycle of Higher education in the C.N.S.M.D of Lyon since December, 2007.

In addition to this part in this ensemble, Fabrice Millischer regularly worked with prestigious baroque ensembles such as "Les Sacqueboutiers " with Daniel Lassalle and Jean-Pierre Canihac, " The concert of Nations " with Jordi Savall, the " Concert of Astrée " with Emmanuelle Haïm, as well as with Choirs such as " Les Elements " with Joël Suhubiette or Pierre Cao's " Arsys Bourgogne " with Pierre Cao.

His talent was several times recognized in both instruments : he gained the First prize of cello of the Competitions of Lempdes in 2001 and Epernay in 2003. Having been a finalist in the international competition of trombone of Budapest in September, 2005 and in the international competition of sacqueboute of Toulouse in April, 2006, he obtained the First prize of Trombone and the Prize of the Public in the International Competition of interpretation of the ARD of Munich in September, 2007.

From then on, he was invited to play as a soloist with numerous orchestras in Rostock, Stuttgart, Basel and Saint-Petersburg on the occasion of the " Parade of Winners " which invites the First prizes of the biggest international competitions. Besides, International Trombone Association urged him to give a recital in Salt Lake City in May, 2008.

Interested in the music of our time, Fabrice Millischer already distinguished himself in the Sequenza V de Luciano Bério or still Martin Wesley-Smith's " White Knight and Beaver " for trombone and tape. Two commands are at present in progress, a work for trombone and orchestra as well as the other one for trombone and Brass Band.

He was revealed " favourite " of the Symposium of sacqueboute of Toulouse in the emission " In the Court of the Great " of Gaëlle Gallic, which dedicated a complete programme to Fabrice Millischer in January, 2008 on the occasion of his Prize in Munich.
