The study of the trombone from all possible angles, from its beginning to the present, has long been my interest. It starts with the understanding of the rich repertoire of the sackbut, the trombone’s ancestor, and continues through the works which contributed to its development in today’s orchestra. Contemporary composers have taken the trombone further, creating new perspectives, and carrying forward the exploration of yet undiscovered possibilities.
